Profile of the School

  • Gymnázium Vysoké Mýto now offers four-year and eight-year study programmes.
  • The grades of the eight-year study programme are traditionally named by classic Latin terms – prima, secunda, tertia, quarta, quinta (= 1. A), sexta (= 2. A), septima (= 3. A), octava (= 4. A).
  • By the successful finishing of the fourth grade – quarta – the students end the compulsory school attendance. After that, they can either continue their studies in quinta (this important point in studies is accompanied by a change of the form teacher and also by a change of all of teachers for particular subjects), or they can change for another secondary school (or grammar school), if they pass the entrance examinations.
  • Our grammar school prepares the students especially for further studies at universities, or colleges.
  • After the school-leaving exam (traditionally called MATURITA), the students can either enter universities or colleges or find their jobs in various professions.

In the academic year 2009/2010 Gymnázium Vysoké Mýto has 347 students and the teaching staff is made of 28 full-time teachers. The headteacher is Mgr. Blanka Kysilková and the deputy headmaste is RNDr. Pavel Kouba.
