GymJam

This year, the beginning of the academic year was a very special one for the students of Gymnázium Vysoké Mýto since on Thursday 4th September they organized a special event for the pupils of other local schools as well as the inhabitants of the town. It was the first time but maybe the start of a new tradition.  After a long discussion among the students the event was called  GymJam.  The programme was really rich – in the morning the whole school building was open house with various workshops and competitions nearly in each of the classrooms, e.g. creating fabric flowers, learning the cup song activity, doing jigsaw puzzles and guessing the secret letter or learning to dance “a Belgian dance”.  After lunch all the students of the school wearing bright yellow T-shirts gathered in front of the school building and marched together onto the main square where they formed three huge circles and performed the Belgian dance to the amusement of crowds of by-passing spectators. Then the parade continued and led to the local small open-air theatre where the afternoon cultural programme started. Quite a lot of our students play in a music band and so the show was made of their performances. In the evening there was a theatre performance of professional theatre company called Drak (Dragon in English) from Hradec Králové. It was a very busy and amusing day for all the students and other participants, really something to remember.
